Join internationally renowned author and consultant, Jay McTighe, to explore ideas from his recent book Designing Authentic Performance Tasks and Projects (ASCD 2020). In this workshop, Jay will examine the characteristics of rich tasks and projects (PBL). He will present a variety of practical and proven tools for the development of authentic tasks to engage students in meaning learning and for assessing important learning outcomes (e.g., 21st century skills) that often fall “through the cracks” of conventional testing. Finally, Jay will discuss the instructional implications for preparing students for authentic performance tasks and share a compilation of excellent web-based resources.
